My first network admin role was at Switch data centers, back in 2017. I did not
have any experience prior to this role, but I had a really good manager that
decided to give me a chance. This was when my career in IT really took off. I
had just moved back to the US and this was my first job after a long search.
It was a rough period for me, so I could not afford to gamble this opportunity.
I spent days and nights studying for the CCNA Routing & Switching certification,
but more importantly, I studied to catch up with the rest of the team that was
far ahead of me in terms of knowledge and experience. Luckily my persistence paid
off and I have learned a lot over the years.
Unlike the rest of the categories in my portfolio, I don't have the physical
network equipment that I can use for networking tutorials. However, there are
open-source projects that are closely similar to what many commercial solutions
offer today. After all, the tutorials are intended to demonstrate my understanding
of core concepts and show that they can be applied to other solutions out there.
If you have any questions or would like more details about my experience, please
don't hesitate to contact me.
